PENTAThis July marks an important milestone for Piedmont Ear, Nose & Throat Associates as we celebrate 20 years of service to the Piedmont -Triad. It all started in 1999, when five doctors, Dr. William S. Fisher II, Dr. Ronald B. Shealy, Dr. Robert M. Alsup, Dr. Kenneth S. Maxwell and Dr. Stephen B. Potts, from Salem ENT and Forsyth Head & Neck, joined forces to better serve the community. “From day one, our goal was to provide the highest quality ENT care in the region,” Potts says. “Our providers and staff are dedicated to delivering the best patient care possible through teamwork, integrity, knowledge and passion.”

Growing to Serve Our Patients

Twenty years later, PENTA remains a privately owned, physician-led surgical practice. This group of five doctors has now grown to 12 physicians, one physician assistant and a staff of more than 60 people. Services offered include general adult and pediatric ENT, audiological testing, hearing aid sales and service, allergy testing and treatment, clinical research, facial plastic surgery, cosmetic injectables, aesthetic products and services.

It’s not just the number of doctors and variety of services that have grown over the years. As our services have grown, the need for more space necessitated a larger facility. PENTA expanded into a new, larger building at the Winston-Salem location, and added locations in Mt. Airy, Clemmons and Kernersville to provide convenient access to patients throughout the region.

For 20 years, PENTA has maintained a patient-centered focus to health care. “Through preventative health and patient education, we are dedicated to helping people lead healthy lives and see the best outcomes from their care,” Potts says.

Building a Healthy Community

In addition to caring for patients, we at PENTA are (delete also) committed to caring for the broader community. Over the years we have partnered with organizations including the MS Walk, Clemmons Clean Up Day, AARF, Senior Services and Patriot Rovers to give back to our community.

The past few years PENTA has provided support to the local nonprofit Cancer Services of Winston-Salem, an organization that provides resources and help for families that have been touched with cancer. Our surgeons at PENTA treat thyroid, head and neck cancers and see first-hand how this disease can affect a person and their family. Offering support to Cancer Services is one way we can help our patients and their families beyond the services provided in our practice.

“Being an active partner with groups who not only make a difference in our city, but also in the lives of our patients, means a lot to us,” Potts says.

The Future Looks Bright

As we celebrate 20 years of serving the Winston-Salem area, we look forward to many more years of caring for people throughout the community, to help everyone lead healthy, happy and active lives. “One of the most important parts of our success has been our employees,” Potts says. “Working side-by-side with our physicians is the excellent team of professionals here at PENTA. We owe much of our success to our team.”

Here’s to a great team, a fantastic 20 years of service and growth, and a great community whose support helped make it all happen! Thank you for your support.
